Harvest Pot Luck Dinner followed by a brief business meeting.

OCTOBER

Title: “"Celebrating the Harvest: An Evening in the Autumn Kitchen"”
Speaker: Francine Royce
    Participants will discuss the benefits and pleasures of eating seasonally and will enjoy a variety
    of healthful and delicious fall dishes.

NOVEMBER

Title: “Gardening for the Spirit”
Speaker: Cheryl Collins 
   "Be inspired by looking at different elements to bring into your garden to create a place of joy.
   Whether you're a beginner gardener looking to create a new space, or a seasoned gardener
    looking to reinvent an existing garden, this program will give you a springboard of great, new ideas.".

JANUARY

Roundtable Discussion followed by a hands-on flower arranging demonstration
   Surround yourself with flowers and friends. Gather at Sweet Autumn Farm; bring your own container
   and create personal floral expressions to bring home.

FEBRUARY

Title: “The Intent of the Gardener”
Speaker: Rich Pomerantz
   Let renowned photographer Rich Pomerantz opens your eyes to the beauty of gardens, though his
   photographs of public and private gardens that reveals the planning and creativity of gardeners.

When: Monday, February 7, 2011 at 9:30 am


MARCH

Title: “Going Native!”
Speaker: Betty Sanders
   Native trees and shrubs evolved in New England without our help.  They have adapted to hot,
   dry summers and cold winters, to browsing deer and local insects.  The flowers and fruit they
   produce attract birds and butterflies, and along with their foliage add color to your landscape.
   Nativars--the cultivars of native plants--have expanded the color palette and options for homeowners

APRIL

Title: “Flowering Trees and Shrubs for the Home Landscape"
Speaker: Suzanne Mahler
   “Woody plants form the backbone of our landscape.  Explore the beauty of flowering trees and
   shrubs with a look beyond the fleeting flowers to varieties that provide attractive forms, colorful
   foliage, textural bark and fruits for interest in more than one season.”

MAY

Title: “A Year in the Life of a Honey Bee Colony and Its Beekeeper”
Speaker: Birgit de Weerd
   The program will take you through the activities in and around a beehive, starting in January
   and ending in the fall with the honey harvest.  The presentation will also focus on the many
   pollen and nectar producing blossoms the bees visit on their foraging trips throughout the seasons,
   opening another gardening dimension and perhaps setting the seed for the start of a most interesting
   hobby: Beekeeping.

JUNE

Title: “The Basics of Rose Growing”
Speaker: Irwin Ehrenreich
   The program will cover rose classification and the care of roses from spring pruning through
   winter protection.  Garden design, structures, layout and ornaments will also be discussed.

Title: “Gardens of Beijing”
Speaker: Alison Saylor & Kathy Booth
The plants are often familiar, but the landscapes and pruning practices in Beijing are distinctly Asian. Carlisle Club members Alison and Kathy will share their pictures of the trees, shrubs and flowers planted to beautify the city for the 2008 Olympics, in addition to some private and public gardens of Beijing.
