It was a very good year...looking back at 2015-16
OCTOBER, 2015, CARLISLE COMMON
Damp but not discouraged, from left: Julie Meier, Deb Van Walsum, Eugenia Julio-Bishop, Joeth Barlas, Tom Veirs, Kate Reid. One of our scarecrows and Carlisle's First Religious Society church are in the background. Photo by Deborah Bentley. Pumpkins on the CommonTHANKS TO ALL who helped make Pumpkins on the Common a memorable community event, despite tough logistics and uncertain weather. Our local suppliers had crop failures in this summer's drought, but we found a Merrimack valley supplier who had ample rain and a decent price. Many thanks to Tom Veirs, who managed to pinpoint the pumpkin depot in Haverill and to our intrepid president Deb Van Walsum, who jumped in to coordinate the crew via cell phone and email... Thanks to the half-dozen unloaders, who miraculously appeared on Friday and made short work of setup in the rain; to the Saturday AM gang who sorted, priced, and even hung our club banner near the flagpole just as the church bell pealed 10 AM; to all our sellers who greeted old friends and offered a warm welcome to new Carlisle families on a blustery, chilly day, and especially to the doughty crew who helped pack up at the end!
